Banner Desert/Cardon Children’s Medical Center


Banner Desert/ Cardon Children’s Medical Center has an immediate opportunity for a registered Radiologic Technologist to work in our high volume Trauma facility serving both adult and the pediatric population. We're looking for experienced and professional candidates who are able to independently perform inpatient and outpatient X-Ray exams.


This is a full time opportunity to work 2:00pm to 10:30pm  with rotating weekends and holidays.


About the Radiologic Department:

  • We have 8 X-Ray imaging rooms (Philips, Toshiba, Care Stream and GE)
    • 3- rooms located in the ED
    • 2- at Cardon Children’s
    • 3- on the BDMC campus
  • This facility has 2 Siemens ISO-View Spin C-Arms that allow for single slice CT imaging in the OR.
  • Our department performs diagnostic and interventional procedures i.e. Arthrogram, Myelogram, Joint Aspiration, Chest tubes, Lumbar Punctures and Modified Barium Swallows.
  • Staff may rotate through Fluoroscopy, Operating Room, Emergency Department, Inpatients, Outpatients, Pediatric and portable exams (depending on their shift)
  • Average of 250-350 exams and 20-30 OR cases  in a 24 hour period
  • Monitor patient's well-being during exams; recognizes patient discomfort or medical problems and takes appropriate action.
  • Provide patient education by talking them through the steps and answering their questions and concerns regarding exam procedures and process
  • Staff are committed to delivering professional, compassionate care at all touch points throughout their stay.
  • Holiday and call rotation is required 



  • ARRT registered technologist, in good standing
  • MRTBE license from the state of Arizona
  • BLS certification

Job Summary

This position performs prescribed radiographic procedures in accordance with department/facility policies, procedures and protocols. This position ensures optimal care/treatment to patient population.


Essential Functions

  • Performs radiographic procedures and analysis according to departmental guidelines. Uses independent judgment and applies learned methodologies according to established policy and procedures.


  • Educates patients/families regarding procedure and/or treatment to be performed as well as risk factors and prevention. Demonstrates professional behavior/conduct in all interactions; fosters teamwork, efficient use of resources and quality patient outcomes


  • Produces high quality images and prepares/presents them with other pertinent patient information for timely interpretation. Prepares and maintains accurate documentation.


  • Demonstrates competence in performing prescribed invasive/interventional procedures if applicable in accordance with established policies.


  • Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements. Demonstrates the ability to trouble shoot and notifies appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance. Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors. Adheres to safety policies.


  • Accountable for the ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities related to radiology practice. This includes maintaining confidentiality of all work information.


  • Assures the efficient operation of workflow of the department by performing other duties as assigned. Monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and material to ensure non-interruption of services.



Minimum Qualifications

Certificate or diploma from an approved/accredited school of Radiology program.

Requires national certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and licensure by the state regulatory agency if applicable. BLS certification required.

This position requires clinical knowledge typically achieved with 1 year of experience. Must demonstrate effective communication skills, human relations skills, analyze data and solve problems.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
