We are currently seeking a dynamic and customer service driven Supply Coordinator to provide support to our OR department!

Job Summary

This position is responsible for procuring and maintaining adequate levels of anesthesia, routine and specialty supplies and equipment for the surgery department(s) within established budget.


Essential Functions

  • Coordinates procurement of anesthesia, routine and specialty supplies and equipment for surgical procedures. Handles the department's needs for elective, emergency and urgent add-on surgeries.


  • Receives requests for special equipment and/or supplies and procures them for the correct patient, procedure, date, and time. Checks for resource conflicts and arranges to borrow equipment from vendor or other surgery department, if necessary. Verifies that requests are within boundaries of physician privileges.


  • Reviews daily revenue and error reports and assures that all changes are processed accurately. Justifies costs for support staff, equipment, and supplies. Maintains data that support expenses in order to project cost for the next year. Participate in the development and monitoring of the departmental budget.


  • Promotes and monitors cost containment and encourages conversion to corporate standardization of products and equipment. Receives capital planning and equipment requests, works with vendors, gets quotes and makes recommendations for purchases. Attends system product evaluation meetings to relate the needs of the departments regarding product comparison substitution and availability. May also participate in the planning of supplies, equipment and materials for new construction move-ins and re-models.


  • Reviews delivery sheets of specialty supplies and equipment and verifies cost, quantity, etc. prior to payment. Works with billing and auditing staff to ensure that equipment/supplies are billed to the correct patient.


  • Monitors preventative maintenance schedules and arranges for equipment repair and replacement and coordinates alternate equipment availability or arranges to lease equipment. May maintains a capital equipment inventory file and implant log, i.e. pace-makers, artificial joints, bone implants, etc.


  • Arranges evaluations of new products, including contacting vendor representatives and arranging demonstrations. Participates in contract and procurement process.


  • May assist with interviewing, selection, and orientation of support staff. May conduct staff meetings, training, prepare performance reviews and corrective actions of support staff for management.



Minimum Qualifications

Requires business, math and communication skills, knowledge and abilities as normally evidenced by an associates in business or procurement, or equivalent experience and training.

The position also requires skills and abilities typically acquired with 2 years of experience in a surgery area, materials management, or related area. Must possess excellent communication and organizational skills and a working knowledge of surgical supplies and equipment.

Must be proficient with commonly used office software and have the ability to learn and adapt quickly to new software.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelors degree preferred.Knowledge of medical terminology is strongly preferred.

Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
