    Banner Alzheimer’s Institute is a leading nonprofit organization in Alzheimer’s disease and neuroimaging research, and it embraces a threefold mission: to help end Alzheimer’s without losing a generation, help set a new standard of care for patients and families, and to forge a model of multi-institutional collaboration in biomedical research. The Banner Imaging Research Analysis Laboratory (BIRAL) is a group of approximately 10 imaging research scientists and analysts performing imaging research to better understand brain function and disease on over a dozen projects funded by NIH, the state of Arizona, private foundations, philanthropic and industrial partners. The team specializes in detailed and quantitative analysis of advanced imaging data such as MRI and PET scans, while also integrates information from clinical, biomarker, and psychometric measurements using advanced mathematical and statistical models to contribute to brain imaging research findings. 

     

    As the Bioinformatics Analyst Associate, you will work with our team to perform image/data analysis using established procedures, troubleshoot processing issues, implement new analysis techniques, and prepare technical reports.

    Job Summary

    This position provides functional expertise on moderately complex computer applications in an assigned department and may be expected to lead project teams. The incumbent may also be expected to troubleshoot data issues at a moderately complex level and appropriately escalate issues to other resources, as needed. This may include tasks such as creating data definitions, validating data, retrieving data from multiple systems, merging data from multiple sources, functional documentation, participating in creating or reviewing technical documentation and training materials.


    Essential Functions

  • Performs analysis of customer data and reporting needs, make appropriate decisions and provides data. Data may include, but are not limited to; online applications, electronic forms, moderate to complex reports.

  • Serves as a liaison for data users or customers. This may include education, negotiation and problem solving tasks to deliver desirable outcome.

  • Maintains optimal operation of departmental reports in partnership with information technology or external software vendor, as appropriate. This may include implementation, maintenance, testing and/or functional design.

  • May represent assigned area on project teams with regional or company scope on system implementations, policy and practice changes and process redesign.. May prepare and distribute worksheets and reports, as well as maintain a database.

  • Keeps current on industry, standards, and regulatory/compliance issues within assigned areas. Provides education and consultation on these issues to customers.

  • Write queries using SQL, analyze, validate data and develop/publish reports.

  • Minimum Qualifications

    Must possess strong knowledge as normally obtained through the completion of a bachelor's degree in related business discipline to area assigned or computer science.

    A level of experience as would typically be obtained in 3 to 5 years working with systems, working as a functional "super-user" of an application in a similar department environment, or providing consultative input for data usage or design is required.

    Excellent working knowledge of typical word processing, spreadsheet and/or database applications is required. Good organizational, critical thinking, problem solving, communication and human relation skills are required. Requires the ability to write queries using SQL.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Experience with system implementation and project management. Additional experience with specialized applications in related area also preferred.Experience with SAS or SSRS,Experience with department specific software (Cerner, NextGen, Centricity, Peribirth, TSI, and Quality Advisor), including advanced integrated or independent report writing applications.

    Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
